Prayer Avails Much

“Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all manner of prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).” (Ephesians 6:18)

How many times have we said, “all I can do is pray” to someone who is going through something horrible? In reality, praying is the best thing we can do for them! It’s more effective than bringing a meal over or hugging them. These things should be done too, but the prayer is the most important thing we can to do help someone.

The Word says “the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man (or woman) avails much.” Entire situations are turned around through prayer. Prayer activates heaven on our behalf or on behalf of the person we are interceding for!

If you know someone who is going through a rough time, who has lost a loved one, or got a bad report from the doctor or is in a financial crisis; yes comfort them with encouraging words; yes bring them a meal or take them out for lunch; yes hug them and give them a shoulder to cry on. But the first and best thing you can do for them is to PRAY for their situation to be turned around.

The Word says that we are to “bear one another’s burdens” and that is the heart of intercessory prayer. Your prayers matter and God saves every one of them. Especially those prayers for others.

Blessings everyone…

  2. Amen! Prayer is a tool we often think of last when really, it should be the first thing we turn to in a crisis.
