The Peace of God

“And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

This is the perfect description of the peace of God that can only be found in Him. What does this verse say about God’s peace?

  • Our souls are in a tranquil state
  • We are assured of our salvation through Christ
  • We fear nothing from God, no judgment for sin is on our horizon
  • We are content with our lot in life
  • God’s peace is a garrison or a border around our hearts & minds

This peace is so precious, that once you have experienced it, you will do anything to keep it. You’ll strive to get along with everybody because where there is strife, there is every evil work. Peace is not around evil. It’s like turning the light off and now everything is dark.

There is no real peace outside of God. Look at the lives of the lost around you, is there any real peace? When the peace of God is established in your life, you can go through the valley of the shadow of death and still be content. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. This peace enables us to stand firm in the evil day and not be moved. It enables us to praise Him in the middle of the trial. It enables us to love our enemies.

If your life is being tossed around like a small boat in stormy seas, run to Jesus today. He calms the storms in our lives. He did it when He walked the earth and He does it in our lives if we ask Him to. Draw near to Him today and He will begin to surround your heart and mind with His peace.

Blessings everyone…
