“Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extra-ordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance. (II Peter 3:8-9)
As we go about our daily lives and we struggle and wait for the promises of God to come to pass, we don’t see the bigger picture that He does. The Word says that “all things work together for our good.” What seems impossible to change can and will change at the moment that God needs it to.
They say that timing is everything. You may be waiting for a child to be conceived or the day when you are debt free or a healing of a chronic disease. All of these things can seem like an eternity while you wait, but God sees the bigger picture of His plans. He has an appointed time for that child to come, He wants the journey to freedom from debt to make you stronger, He wants to showcase your faith to the lost while you coming into your healing. Remember this: God knows what you are made of and He won’t allow more than you can bear.
One thing I know for sure, no matter how tired you are of waiting, just don’t quit! If you quit you will surely not receive it and the devil wins. We always win if we faint not, if we keep trusting Him.
Lord, help us all to strengthen our faith today. Help us to encourage ourselves in You and Your promises! Thank You for the journey to victory!

I love the pictures you chose: showing how God speaks to us through the darkness. And that waiting… such a hard thing to do. We (okay I) tend to think that in the waiting, God has forgotten me. Not so… it is a time of preparation for me and a time of witnessing faith to others!

Yes, Debbie, I have been waiting on freedom from debt for quite a while and through this time I have learned so much! Especially discipline in my spending habits :-). I struggled horribly until one day, He gave me a plan. I’m following that plan and I am seeing the reduction of my debt and even some being forgiven or reduced! Praise God! It’s the journey to victory that makes us into the person He wants us to be. Thanks for your insight!

It means to stop believing for your promise. To lose faith in it. To make the decision to just live with the situation and stop trusting God to fix it. Waiting in faith is not sitting there twiddling your thumbs. It is active. It’s doing what you can do and letting God do the rest. When you quit, you just live with it and exist. Thanks Kip!
