“The Lord is slow to anger and great in power and will by no means clear the guilty. The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. He rebukes and threatens the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Mount Carmel wither, and the blossom of Lebanon fades. The mountains tremble and quake before Him and the hills melt away, and the earth is upheaved at His presence–yes the world and all that dwell in it.
Who can stand before His indignation? And who can stand up and endure the fierceness of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by Him. The Lord is good, a Strength and Stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows (recognizes, has knowledge of, and understands) those who take refuge and trust in Him.” (Nahum 1:3-7)
The power of God is beyond our ability to comprehend, at least it is for me. I think of Him as a loving Father who loves me enough to send His Son to die for me. This scripture shows how really powerful He is. That this planet is His footstool, that everything in it belongs to Him to do with as He wills.
Can you imagine a God who can cause the Rocky Mountains or the Swiss Alps to become flat land? Who can dry up a sea and great rivers? Who can break up rock like it was clay? Whose anger is so terrifying, that even the devils quake in terror?
Yet, He is tender towards those who love Him, who honor Him, who worship Him and who obey Him. As His children, we can run to Him in the days of trouble and know that He is our Strength and Stronghold. He is fully aware of your feelings for Him and your commitment to Him.
God is not a wimp. He is the all-knowing, all-powerful God of the universe. He is not begging mankind to come to Him, but rather He has made a way for us to pursue Him if we want Him. His mercy has been extended to all mankind. Everyone has the opportunity to have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Having God on your side makes you invincible! The Bible says “if God be for us, who can be against us?” Come to Him today…He loves you.
Blessings everyone…
