“The work of each one will become plainly and openly known; for the day of Christ will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done. If the work which any person has built on this Foundation survives this test, he will get his reward. But if any person’s work is burned up under the test, he will suffer the loss of it all, losing his reward, though he himself will be saved, but only as one who has passed through the fire.” (I Corinthians 3:13-15)
Every Christian, those who claim Jesus Christ as their Savior, are supposed to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. Everyone has a ministry or a work to do for Jesus. He has given us all talents and a plan for us to fulfill for His glory.
The Scripture says here that our work will be tested by fire and if the foundation is on Jesus Christ, who is the Word made flesh, it will stand firm for all eternity. What is our “work?”
Our work is showing the world Jesus through our lives. Lives lived day by day bearing the Fruit of the Spirit. Praying for people, helping those who are helpless, being kind in our every day lives. All of these things can impact others in ways only eternity will reveal.
What are the works that will burn up? Gossip, backbiting, religious attitudes, self-righteousness, ignoring the poor, sowing discord etc. Only Kingdom principles will stand. Only the work of the Spirit will pass.
We should all examine ourselves every day and make a commitment to Jesus, who is the Author and the Finisher of our faith, to bear fruit worthy of Him.
“Father, help me today to live my life in a way that brings glory to Your Name. Help me Lord, to help others today. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen and Amen!”
Blessings everyone…
