True Treasures

“Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord all the day long. For surely there is a latter end [a future and a reward], and your hope and expectation shall not be cut off.” (Proverbs 23:17-18)

How many of us have wondered why sinful and wicked people seem to always get ahead in life? They seem to have it all. Money, houses, cars, boats, the best jobs, lots of social activities. They have all this yet they are hateful and cruel. They are dishonest and they lie. They despise those who love God. They are even criminal and never seem to get caught.

But do they have anything that really matters? Do the many friends in their social network really care about them or just what they can give them? When the door closes behind the last party guest what loneliness is waiting to envelope them? When the light is turned out, what fears terrorize them in the night? What diseases are destroying their body? Where is peace for them?

It’s not wealth or riches that make us good or evil. God makes the sun shine on the evil and the good. The sun just shines and everyone benefits from it. It’s the attitude of the heart that the true treasures are located.

At the end of all things, it is the condition of the spirit or the heart that matters for eternity. We will all give account of what we did and said while we walked the earth. Good, bad or ugly..we will have to account for it.

Father, today I surrender my heart to You. Make me into the person You want me to be so that I can give a good report of my life on that Day! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen and Amen!

Blessings everyone…
