The Currency of Heaven — Faith

Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].” (Hebrews 11:1)

“But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him out.” (Hebrews 11:6)

Faith is the currency of heaven. Everything in the kingdom of God is done in faith. No transaction can take place between us and God without faith. It’s that simple. It takes faith to believe in an unseen God. It takes faith to ask Jesus into your heart. It takes faith to ask Him and then believe for answers to prayers. Because the spirit realm is not seen in this natural world, faith is the vehicle to get things done.

There were many people in the Old Testament who had incredible faith! Faith was counted to them as righteousness. That means that because of their faith in Him, God added them to the roll books in heaven! Let’s look at a few of them:

  • By faith Abel brought God a better and more acceptable sacrifice than Cain. Abel put his faith into the gifts and Cain was just doing his religious duty. There is a big difference.

  • By faith Enoch was caught up and transferred physically to heaven! He is still physically alive today in heaven. Enoch walked “habitually” with God every day of his life. Enoch pursued God with everything he had.

  • By faith Noah, listened to God’s warning and instructions and built the arc when rain had never touched the earth! In those days, a mist came up and watered the earth. Imagine the ridicule he endured for the 120 years it took him to build that arc!

  • By faith Abraham obeyed God’s instructions to move to a country he had never seen. He left everything to follow an invisible God because he loved Him. Abraham was waiting expectantly for God’s promise of a son with Sarah, even at 100 years old!

  • By faith Sarah received the physical strength to conceive and bear a child in her old age. She believed God’s promise.

“These people all died controlled and sustained by their faith, but not having received the tangible fulfillment of God’s promises, only having seen it and greeted it from a great distance by faith, and all the while acknowledging and confessing that they were strangers and temporary residents and exiles upon the earth.” (Hebrews 11:13)

These people did incredible things with faith! They didn’t have the Blood of Jesus, nor did they have Bibles of various translations, nor did they have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit! They had FAITH in God and look at the mighty things they did!

If only we, who have all of these heavenly resources at our disposal, could grab hold of simple faith and hang on until the answer comes! Imagine the changes we could bring about in our world. We can, at any time, believe God for the impossible. They did and we can too. God gives us all the measure of faith to build on…it truly is the currency of heaven.

Blessings everyone…
