One Act of Kindness

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory (His majesty and splendor), and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them [the people] from one another as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats.

And He will cause the sheep to stand at His right hand, but the goats at His left. Then the King will say to those at His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father [you favored of God and appointed to eternal salvation], inherit, receive as your own, the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you brought Me together with yourselves and welcomed and entertained and lodged Me. I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me with help and ministering care, I was in prison and you came to see Me.

Then the just and upright will answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry and gave You food, or thirsty and gave You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger and welcome and entertained You, or naked and clothed You? And when did we see You sick or in prison and came to visit You?

And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least in the estimation of men, these My brethren, you did it for Me.” (Matthew 25:31-40)

Kindness. Jesus is showing us how to be kind to others in this passage.   The Bible says that the lost will recognize Christians by one thing: LOVE. True Christians are supposed to show the world the power of God’s LOVE!

What is love? Love is kind. Love overlooks a hurt or a snub. I Corinthians chapter 13 goes into great detail on what God’s love entails. One of the best kindnesses you can do is to warmly smile at someone. Let the smile reach your eyes. People can’t help it! They usually return that smile!

There are so many ways that we can show the power of God’s love to this world. If only we would slow down long enough to do it. Life is so fast and busy that we tend to forget to stop and smell the roses. To really look at people.

The world today is a hard place. It’s cold and violent and cruel. But you and I can make a difference! The Bible says that “where evil abounds, there GRACE much more abounds.” The Bible says that God’s love NEVER fails. People remember kindness. Even if they brush it off, they’ll think about it and ponder on it and when they are in a desperate situation, they’ll remember that moment of kindness…of God’s love shown to them.  Who knows but that one moment of kindness could be a turning point for that person to come to Jesus?

On that day, when Jesus sits on His throne of glory to judge the just and the unjust, I want Him to say to me “When you did it to the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”  Begin to make yourself available for God to use you to be kind to someone today.  This one decision has eternal rewards!  I  did a post a week or so back called “Pay It Forward.” It had a really great video from YouTube in it.  I’m posting it here again because I think it shows how easy it is to be kind to everyone!  The Bible says that there will come a day when the knowledge of the glory of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea!  Your acts of kindness bring glory Him…so go ahead and step out today…just one act of kindness today.  You will feel great!

Blessings everyone…
