“Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea monsters and all deeps! You lightning, hail, fog and frost, you stormy wind fulfilling His orders! Mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars! Beasts and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds! Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers and judges of the earth! Both young men and maidens, old men and children! Let them praise and exalt the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted and supreme! His glory and majesty are above earth and heaven! He has lifted up a horn for His people [giving them power, prosperity, dignity, and preeminence], a song of praise for all His godly ones, for the people of Israel, who are near to Him. Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!” (Psalm 148:7-14)
I saw a video a week or so ago that showed amazing images of the universe. In comparison to the vastness of the universe, I am just a spec…less than a spec really in the scheme of things. Yet the Creator of it all is mindful of me! That is truly amazing that in all that He has created, He is mindful and very interested in every part of my little, insignificant life. It brings tears to my eyes to think that such a big, awesome God could feel that way about me. Yet He does…I know He does.
Everything in creation from every corner of this earth to the furthest reaches of the universe is constantly giving praise to the Creator of it all. Why? Because He is worthy of every bit of it. In one form or another, all creation gives the praise to Him Who is worthy of it all! That includes you and me. Not only has He created us and given us life, but He has given us power, prosperity, dignity and preeminence! He has even given us a song of praise for us to sing back to Him.
Praise blesses the heart of God greatly, but also when we spend time giving praise to the Lord God Almighty, something happens inside of us. If we are worn out from a hard day’s work, we get strengthened. If we are consumed with the cares of life and the worry of it all praise will lift the spirit of heaviness and put the oil of gladness in our hearts. If our spirits are broken beyond repair, praise will bring the loving Hands of the Creator to bind up the broken spirit and restore it completely–something only He can do.
Wherever you are at and whatever state you are in–take a few moments to praise the God of Heaven for all He has done. Do it again tomorrow and the next day and the next. Eventually you will look back and marvel at what He has done in YOUR life simply because you spent a few moments every day to praise Him…Just because He is the Creator!
