“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
Before Jesus ascended to Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father, He handed over the keys of the kingdom of heaven to His disciples. In today’s world, that is you and me! We have been given authority to change the world according to the Father’s will in Heaven.
We are once again the authority on the earth that Adam lost. We have it back. We have the authority to bind and loose on the earth. But we can’t just willy-nilly be binding and loosing! All of our authority is under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Everything we do for the Kingdom has to be done under the unction and direction of the Holy Spirit. He alone knows the Heart of the Father!
The world today is full of opportunities for the people of God to find out what heaven wants bound and loosed! Like II Chronicles 7:14 says, “if MY people would pray!” If we would look around us and say, “Lord! this isn’t right” and begin to pray and get heaven’s agreement, we can literally change the world. We can put ten thousands of Satan’s armies to flight.
There is a lot more than meets the eye to this one sentence Jesus spoke to His disciples! There is a powerful principle of kingdom authority here for anyone who wants to go digging for it. That is what I love about the Bible–there are so many levels of truth! We, as Christians, have at our disposal everything we need to impact the world right where we are at! The Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Remember: Nothing is impossible with God…
Blessings everyone…
So true….but do we ever learn how to use the gifts and authority He has given us?

Hi Bill, I believe we can learn to use the gifts and authority, but the decision is up to us to pursue it. I know for myself, I’m still trying to figure out what my gifts are! :-). I understand my authority in Jesus and I operate in it, but it has taken years of pursuit to get to this point. He has so much He wants to pour into our lives! More than we can even imagine! Blessings Bill!
