Paul’s Secret

“I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want. I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” (Philippians 4:12-13)

The Apostle Paul had a good life before he met Jesus Christ. He was a high-ranking Pharisee and a Roman citizen! He made a good living as a tent maker…he was in the construction business! All of that changed when He met Jesus on the road to Damascus.

Once Paul received Jesus Christ as his Savior and then the infilling of the Holy Spirit, He was off like a rocket! This man became as passionate and zealous for Jesus the Messiah as he was against Him when he mercilessly killed Christians. His life became completely centered around Jesus Christ. He spent every waking minute working for the Kingdom of God. He was consumed by it. He spent hours upon hours in the presence of God receiving revelation knowledge on the scriptures and truths that he wrote in his epistles…such as Philippians.

Because of his new lifestyle as an Apostle, he never knew where he was going to end up from day-to-day. But God provided for him and protected him from death until it was time for him to come home. He was in prison more than he was free and he tirelessly wrote the majority of the New Testament from prison.  He was persecuted relentlessly by just about anyone in authority everywhere he went because wherever he went miracles and the power of God came!  He turned the world of that day upside down.  One man with a heart for God turned the world upside down…just like his Master: Jesus Christ did.

Regardless of Paul’s circumstances, he kept his eyes on Jesus. When he was beaten, he kept his eyes on Jesus, when he was stoned and left for dead,he kept his eyes on Jesus, when he was thrown into prison to await execution, he kept his eyes on Jesus and when he was beheaded in a public execution, he kept his eyes on Jesus. That is Paul’s secret.

Keep your eyes upon Jesus regardless of whether your bill is paid or not. Regardless of whether you didn’t find a job this week. Regardless of whether the cancer is still in your body. Regardless of the fear and terror rampaging throughout the world today…Keep your eyes upon Jesus!

He is the secret to contentment in any set of circumstances. And yes, once again it goes back to RELATIONSHIP! Paul cultivated this relationship and it served him well throughout all his trials and tribulations and it will serve you and I well too!

Blessings everyone…
