“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)
There is a key to living victoriously in life in this scripture. The Book of the Law is the Bible in today’s world. It’s the Word of God. The scriptures say that the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. The Bible is more than just another book.
God is talking directly to Joshua after Moses died. He is telling Joshua the secret to his success. It is meditating on God’s Word. But more than reading it morning and night, God tells Joshua to DO according to all that is written in it. In other words, God says, Obey My commandments that are written in My Word.
God says here “shall not depart out of your mouth.” Joshua is being told he needs to speak God’s words out in his every day speech. He is able to do that through meditating on and reading out loud the Word day and night and then following through by obeying the Word. What is the result of doing and speaking these things?
“For THEN you shall make your way PROSPEROUS and THEN you shall DEAL WISELY and have GOOD SUCCESS.”
Our success in life hinges on how we handle the Word of God. Do we read and study the Bible regularly? Do we speak the Word out of our mouth in faith over the situations in our lives? Do we obey what the commandments are? Do we love others? Are we forgiving those who hurt us? Are we staying pure from the world’s influences? These three areas: Reading the Word, Speaking the Word and Obeying the Word are the keys to our success.
God promises that our lives will flow in prosperity and we will be successful in all that we put our hands to. It’s a wonderful promise! But the promise is conditional. You reap what you sow. When you sow the Word of God into your life, you will reap success and prosperity. Joshua did it and you can too.
Blessings everyone…
