“The plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the wise answer of the tongue. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits (the thoughts and intents of the heart).
“Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and so shall your plans be established and succeed.” (Proverbs 16:1-3)
Nobody loves planning more than I do! I can plan down to the second. I love writing out shopping lists and “to do” lists and all kinds of project lists. Lord I can keep myself busy just making these lists!
But what I have found is that in all my planning, I forget one very important thing. I forgot to roll it to the Lord and it usually falls by the wayside unfinished. It’s amazing how God wants to be involved in the smallest details of our lives! I love Him for being that interested in my small, uneventful life.
I have to admit that even though I have read these scriptures dozens of times, I never really saw it like this before. All of the plans I have for this area or that area of my life are MINE. I just assumed that God wants my plans too!
So tonight, I’m going to do something different. I’m going to go to Him with my plans and roll them over to Him. I trust Him. I know that He has my best interests at heart. He is the only One in the world who truly loves me. Why wouldn’t I trust Him?
When I do this, I know that my thoughts are going to change towards His will for my daily activities. I believe that He is going to cause all my plans–or rather OUR plans to be established and succeed. I just love the Word of God! It has the answer for all my problems!
When we come to the realization that our lives are not really about US, but about HIM, then a whole new world is going to open up to us. I think I’m going to head that way…how about you?
