“Now will I arise, says the Lord, because the poor are oppressed, because of the groans of the needy; I will set him in safety and in the salvation for which he pants. The words and promises of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times over. You will keep them and preserve them, O Lord; You will guard and keep us from the evil generation forever. The wicked walk or prowl about on every side, as vileness is exalted and baseness is rated high among the sons of men.” (Psalm 12:5-8)
When evil is admired and desired as a good thing and righteousness is condemned, then perilous times come in. All over the world evil is admired and desired. Men and women are rushing over to join ISIS in the killing fields of Iraq and Syria because they admire their evil. They perceive it as something to be desired greatly.
Likewise all over the world Christianity is condemned as “intolerant.” Righteous and holy living is sneered at because it is contrary to this world system. Christians are dying by the thousands for their faith at any given moment around the world.
Make no mistake, we are indeed living in perilous times. What does perilous mean? It means risky, deadly, uncertain, scary. All of the above. There is nowhere in the world where there isn’t some kind of conflict going on. Peace has fled the earth, except where the true believers in Jesus Christ are living. These people believe God’s words and promises in spite of the perilous times. They are convinced that God will keep them and preserve them from this evil generation…and He WILL!
Folks, it is the twilight hour on the Age of Grace. The Lord of the Harvest is calling in His laborers to gather this last harvest of souls before the great day of the Wrath of God. Jesus said “when you see these things begin to come to pass, look up for your redemption is near.” In the twinkling of an eye, two will be walking down the street and one will be taken and the other left behind. Two sitting on a park bench and one will be taken and the other left behind.
It’s time for the people of God to stand up and head for the harvest fields. People need the Lord. These times are scary and full of risk. People are looking for something solid to hold on to. Jesus is the solid rock on which we stand. Beloved, ask the Lord what He wants you to do in bringing in the harvest. It’s harvest time!
