Hath God Said?

“Now the serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden?

And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat the fruit from the trees of the garden, except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.

But the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die, for God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.” (Genesis 2:1-4)

There are a few things we can learn from Eve’s encounter with Satan here in the garden.

  1. Satan twisted the Word of God to Eve about the tree.  He said “from every tree.”  God did not say that.  He was testing her knowledge of God’s Word regarding the tree.  His question “Can it really be that God said?” threw the hook out there to Eve.  She didn’t disappoint him…

  2.  Eve misquoted God’s Word regarding the tree by saying “God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.”  God did not say they couldn’t touch it.  He only said they couldn’t eat it.  Because Eve did not know the Word of God she was deceived.

  3.  Satan was able to reel her in with a false promise of special wisdom.  She had the wisdom of the Most High God…wasn’t that enough?  Apparently not.  He also caused her to mistrust God’s motives towards her.  Like He was holding out on her.

What is incredible about this situation is the fact that Adam and Eve KNEW God face to face!  How could they let doubt in when they actually physically saw God and talked to Him every single day?

This whole situation started with a little bit of doubt cast on God’s Word AND on His motives. Hath God said?  This is still a favorite deception of Satan that gets people off track time and time again.

When you are facing a battle, you must be fully persuaded that God’s motives towards you are for your benefit and good.  You must realize that God is a good God and the devil is a bad devil.  It’s OK!  Give the devil the blame for bad things!  It’s not God doing it!  This is the biggest hurdle to people receiving healing or deliverance or financial breakthroughs in their lives.  If it’s God’s will to keep you sick, tired, poor and miserable..then why are you fighting it?

In reality, Satan has fed you the same line he fed Eve..hath God said you can be healed?  Hath God said you can be debt free?  Hath God said your addiction is broken?  Don’t buy into it!  Faith is the currency in the Kingdom of God.  God is not moved to ACTION on your behalf by whining, pitiful tears or weeping and wailing.  He is only moved by FAITH.  Until you start speaking faith into your situation, you will remain in it.  Nothing will change.  Faith comes by hearing (yourself speak) and hearing by the Word of God.  In other words, find scriptures about your situation and begin to speak God’s Word over your battle!  It works!  You will begin to see things start to turn.

Whatever your battle is, go to God and ask Him for help.  He loves you!  Jesus paid for your healing, your salvation, your deliverance and your provisions!  He wants you to have it.  Don’t believe the lies of the devil that God is trying to teach you something.  He doesn’t hurt His children to teach them anything.   One thing about God, He has laid it ALL out there for you and I to take.  It’s there for the taking!  He has paid for everything, He has given us the tools we need to be victorious in every single battle we engage in.  Resist those 3 little words: hath God said?  Choose to believe God’s Word and trust His motives towards you are always to your good.

Blessings everyone…
