Dominion Living

“O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!  You have set Your glory on the heavens.  Out of the mouths of babes and unweaned infants, You have established strength because of Your foes, that You might silence the enemy and the avenger.

When I view and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained and established, What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You care for him?  Yet You made him but a little lower than God and You have crowned him with glory and honor.  You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet; all the sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field.  The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent, majestic and glorious is Your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8)

So many of us have been taught that we are worms in the dust and unworthy of God’s love in some of the churches we grew up in.  God’s Word says differently.  We were created just below God in authority.  He has crowned us with glory and honor.  That doesn’t sound like He views me as an unworthy worm!

The Bible says the whole earth belongs to Him.  Even everything it produces or the fullness of it.  It’s all His.  Yet He chose to set His sons and His daughters OVER all the creation of His hands.  Think about what position that puts you in.

In the natural, we have dominion over all the animals.  Human beings are at the very top of the food chain.  Everything is subject to our tastes and desires.  Want a steak tonight?  A cow has already been killed and processed so all you have to do is go to the store and pick it up.  Hunters get up early every Fall morning to get deer and turkeys in season.

In the spirit realm, we also have dominion over all the power of Satan and his legions of demons and fallen angels.  If you have called on the Name of the Lord and received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  If you have been washed in His Blood, then YOU have dominion over the natural AND spirit worlds.

What does this mean to us as individuals?  It means that if you are living in lack of anything, you have the authority to walk in plenty.  If you are sick or dying in your physical body, you have the authority to come up out of that bed of sickness and death.  If your family is torn apart through strife and division, you have the authority to pray it back into unity and harmony.

The key is faith in God’s ability and willingness to make it happen for YOU specifically.  This perhaps, is the most difficult thing for people to grasp.  People tend to lay at God’s feet EVERYTHING, good and bad.  But the Bible says differently.  The Bible says that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from the Father of lights.”  The Bible says that Jesus came that we might have LIFE and have it more abundantly.  In other words, God is a GOOD God.  On the other hand, the Bible says that Satan came to “steal, and to kill and to destroy.”  The Bible says for us to not be ignorant of the devil’s wiles and schemes.  In other words, Satan or the devil is a BAD devil.

The only way that a person can come to the realization that God is a good God and the devil is a bad devil is to establish an intimate relationship with Him.  To know Him face to face in a real friendship.  Because once you know His character and His ways, then you will know and be fully persuaded that God is a GOOD God and nothing evil can be laid at His feet.

This is a season in time for the children of God to begin to take their positions of dominion that Jesus Christ purchased for us on the Cross.  The full knowledge of this position is found in the intimate relationship and in His Word.  To live ABOVE the calamities of this earth, that is what is takes.  The Bible says that the day is coming when the earth will be filled with the KNOWLEDGE of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.  That will happen when the people of God get serious about their relationship with Him.

Blessings everyone…
