Esther’s Reward

“Then Mordecai told them to return this answer to Esther, Do not flatter yourself that you shall escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews.  For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance shall arise for the Jews from elsewhere, but you and your father’s house will perish.  And who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this and for this very occasion?” (Esther 4:13-14)

Sometimes the greatest blessings come after a difficult assignment is completed.  What a hard thing Esther was facing!  Here she was the wife of the most powerful king on the earth in that day and her people, including her, were facing extinction.  But God saw the day coming and He had strategically placed Esther in this position for just this point in time.  But the ultimate choice was hers: to accept the hard assignment or to take the most convenient way out and do nothing?

This was a hard thing that Mordecai had to tell her and equally hard for her to hear.  Thankfully she did hear and she faced death head on in order to fulfill her assignment.  And that is what it takes when we are facing difficult choices.  We have to settle it in our hearts and our minds that no matter what, we will fulfill God’s purposes and not our own comforts, for earthly comforts are only temporary anyway.  Fulfilling God’s purposes has eternal rewards that are permanent.

When we yield our will to fulfill an assignment, God always issues a great blessing for our obedience.  He ALWAYS blesses obedience.  What was Esther’s reward?  She saved her people from extinction.  She gained the admiration and loyalty of her husband above all the other women in his harem.  She gained an entire book in the Bible.  She went down in history as the woman God used to save His people.  Even today in Israel, they celebrate Esther’s obedience and sacrifice.

What are you facing today?  Are you facing a hard duty that you are dreading?  Obey the Lord in it and see the great blessings that He will pour out into your life.  You never know but that YOU were placed in this time and in this place to fulfill a purpose that only YOU can fulfill for God.  Remember: obedience is better than sacrifice…

Blessings everyone…
