The Good Fight

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Henceforth there is laid up for me the victor’s crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me and recompense me on that great day–and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved and yearned for and welcomed His appearing (His return).” (II Timothy:4:7-8)

There is nothing more satisfying than to finish something you have started.  To look back over a span of time and see the result of all your hard work is very satisfying.  We, as Christians are all in a fight and in a race.  Our fight is with Satan and his forces trying to stop us from being effective for God.  Our race is uphill all the way to Heaven.  Our track is on a very narrow road.  It takes faith to run this race and fight this fight.  That is why Paul said “I have kept the faith.”  An uphill battle is hard and so many people give up and go back.

But for those of us who keep fighting and running the race, there will be a great reward from Jesus on that great day!  The race was hard in Paul’s day and today, it’s even harder.  If you like going against the grain, then you are in great company!  If you are getting tired of fighting and running uphill, take heart!  Keep watching and praying for His appearing–it really is much closer than you think.  Maranatha Lord Jesus!

Blessings everyone…
