Abba Father

“For [the Spirit which] you have now received is not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in the bliss of which we cry, Abba Father!  The Spirit Himself testifies together with our own spirit, assuring us that we are children of God.” (Romans 8:15-16)

“And because you really are His sons, God has sent the Holy Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying Abba Father!  Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son; and if a son, then it follows that you are an heir by the aid of God, through Christ.” (Galatians 4:6-7)

“And going a little farther, He fell on the ground and kept praying that if it were possible the fatal hour might pass from Him.  And He was saying, Abba Father, everything is possible for You.  Take away this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.” (Mark 14:35-36)

When we ask Jesus Christ into our hearts we receive so much more than a ticket to Heaven after we die.  We receive the opportunity and privilege to build a relationship with the Most High God aka Abba Father.  Abba means “daddy” and daddy is an intimate term we us for our earthly fathers.  I am so blessed to have had a wonderful earthly father, who I called daddy.  Being an earthly father is incredibly important to the spiritual destiny of people.  People relate to Abba Father based on the kind of relationship they had with their earthly father.  An abused child is not going to trust Abba to have their best interest at heart.  The Bible says “fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath.”

If you don’t know what a good father is because your father wasn’t around or was abusive to you, let me tell you what a good father is.

  • A good father has your best interests in his heart.  Your welfare and benefits are what he wants the most for you.

  • A good father isn’t afraid to show how much he loves you.  To speak kindly and gently to you and give you encouragement and good counsel during times of trouble.

  • A good father is ALWAYS on your side.  No matter if you are wrong, he is always in your corner.  He will tell you if you are wrong, but he will stand with you through it all.

  • A good father is easy to be found.  He can be relied on to listen and help in times of trouble.

  • A good father will lay down his life for his child if necessary.  He will give his all for the benefit of his children.

If you had a rotten earthly father or a wonderful earthly father, lay all of that aside and understand that your heavenly Father is a million times greater than the very best earthly father could ever hope to be!  There is nobody and I mean nobody in this world who loves you more than Abba Father.

He gave everything just so YOU can call Him Abba Father!  He longs to hear those words ring out from your lips.  All you have to do is say Jesus I repent, save me!  You gain a Father and an entire family.  If you know Jesus as Savior, realize today the wonderful opportunity to know Abba Father!  If you don’t know Jesus, call on Him today and begin an incredible journey that will fill your life to overflowing!

Blessings everyone…
