Soul Focus

“First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men.  For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that outwardly we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life and inwardly, a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.

For such praying is good and right, and it is pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior, Who wishes all men to be saved and increasingly to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the divine Truth.  For there is only one God, and only one Mediator between God and men, the Man Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all people, a fact that was attested to at the right and proper time.” (I Timothy 2:1-6)

“Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority and all power of rule in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.  Go then and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the very close and consummation of the age. Amen and so let it be.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

There is a war raging all around us in the spirit world.  The spirit world is where God and the angels live and all people who have died live.  This war is for the souls of men and women living on the earth right now.  God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) wants everyone to accept the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the Cross and come into the Kingdom of God.  Satan wants to keep that from happening because of the intense hatred he has for both God and mankind.  He wants everyone to go to the lake of fire with him at the appointed time.  God has ransomed mankind through the Blood of Jesus shed on the Cross.  The price to avoid the lake of fire has been paid by God through Jesus.

Because of this war, God needs everyone who calls Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior to first of all PRAY for all the lost every day.  Prayer makes a difference.  It really does.  It may not look like it, but it does impact the invisible war raging for souls.  God needs the intercession and prayers of the saints!  He needs them daily because every day people are dying and going into the spirit world, where it is too late for them to make the decision.

When we begin to obey God in this and pray every day for the lost, and begin to intercede for people we know in our own lives whose eternal destiny is hanging in the balance, God is moving in that person’s life.  We may not notice any changes for months or even years, because of the vicious war raging in the spirit world, BUT one day we’ll start to see them move towards God.

The focus of God is SOULS.  Souls are precious to Him.  He paid such a high price for each and every soul in existence.  And because His focus is souls, OUR focus should be souls.  Yes God wants us to have a peaceable life, yes He wants us to be prosperous and in health even as our souls prosper, but we have to realize that IT IS NOT ABOUT US–it is about the lost SOULS not in the Kingdom yet.

It starts with a decision to obey God and pray every day for the lost and those in authority over us.  Something like this:

“Father, I lift up to You every person alive on Earth today whose name is not written in the Book of Life.  I pray for their salvation in Jesus Christ today.  I ask that You send laborers across their path today to share the Gospel of Jesus with them.  I ask that You prepare the soil of their heart to accept Your free gift of salvation through the Blood of Jesus.  I ask that You send angels to work in their lives to bring them to the place of a decision for You.  I pray also Father, for all those in authority over me.  I ask that You grant them wisdom from You, not the world’s wisdom.  Surround them with Godly counsel to make decisions that advance Your Kingdom.  In Jesus’ Name I pray.  Amen and Amen!”

Next, make yourself available for God to use every day.  You never know but that He will use you to lead someone to the Lord!  Someone that another saint has been praying for for years.  Just say “Lord I’m available…send me today!”

Finally, should you lead someone to Jesus, don’t just leave them at the altar and go on your merry way.  Stay in contact with them to help them grow in the Lord.  Take them to church with you.  Let God use you to make a disciple of them!  This is what it is really all about.  Advancing the Kingdom of God is making disciples of all nations–and it starts with prayer.  Start today because time is running out…

Blessings everyone…
