The Great Sacrifice

“But when the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born subject to the regulations of the Law.  To purchase the freedom of (to ransom, redeem and atone for) those who were subject to the Law, that we might be adopted and have sonship conferred upon us and be recognized as God’s sons.

And because you really are His sons, God has sent the Holy Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, Abba Father!  Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then you are an heir by the aid of God through Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 4:4-7)

“And Jesus cried again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit.  At once the curtain of the sanctuary of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks were split.  The tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had died were raised to life; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.” (Matthew 27:50-53)

“Now after the Sabbath, near the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to take a look at the tomb.  And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled the boulder back and sat upon it….but the angel said to the women, Do not be alarmed and frightened for I know that you are looking for Jesus, Who was crucified.  He is not here; He has risen, as He said He would do.  Come, see the place where He lay.” (Matthew 28:1-2,5-6)

God, the Creator of everything has a very prized creation.  A creation that He has poured His father’s heart into.  US–the human race.  We are the most highly prized creation in the entire universe by God the Father.  He created us to be His children–His sons and His daughters so that He could fellowship with us every single day.  To walk in the cool of the garden with us in our everyday, mundane lives.

But then something horrible happened, something very bitter–Satan stole our ability to fellowship with Him.  Through the sin of rebellion, he stole our sonship and made us slaves to his evil ways.  Our ability and privilege to fellowship with the Father was broken way back in the Garden.

But God had a plan.  The only way to make it possible for us to return to the fellowship was for spotless, sinless and righteous blood be shed to cover our sinful nature.  He asked His Son, Jesus to be that ultimate sacrifice for the souls of men to be redeemed from sin if they choose to accept that sacrifice.  Jesus agreed and came to earth from heaven, born of a woman, just like us.  Lived and died just like us.  Except for one thing: death could not hold Him captive because He knew no sin.  He alone is worthy to be that great sacrifice.

On the third day, He arose from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit and He is alive forever more sitting at the right hand of the Father waiting for that wonderful day when He calls His Bride to meet Him in the air.  Yes, WE are that Bride.

Since that first day of the week, when He arose–from that moment, full access and privilege has been restored to the human race.  We can once again walk with the Father in the cool of the evening like Adam did before.  Jesus bought it back with His great sacrifice.

We don’t have to be slaves to sin, we don’t have to put up with Satan’s schemes and attacks against us because the same power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in US.  The good news is that because Jesus died and rose again, we can live eternally with the Creator of the universe as His children.  We can also live here and now in victory and freedom instead of defeat and bondage.  Who wouldn’t want to accept so great a sacrifice?

Meet Jesus Here…

Blessings everyone…
