“But now [in spite of past judgments for Israel’s sins], thus says the Lord, He Who created you, O Jacob, and He Who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you [transformed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives], I have called you by your name; you are Mine. (Isaiah 43:1)
I am so glad that God never gives up on us. His patience and mercy are incredible. This verse has such a rich promise. God was not only willing to pay the price for our redemption, but He actually did it in the most awesome way! By sending His Son to pay the ransom for our souls.
**”But now in spite of past judgments for Israel’s sins” – God isn’t giving up on His people. In spite of their idolatry and evil ways, He still works to bring them back to Him. Why? Because 1) He loves them and 2) He made a covenant promise to Abraham about these people in particular. Your Take-Away: In your most sinful, evil, rebellious state, He still loves YOU.
**”Fear not, for I have redeemed you [transformed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives], I have called you by your name; you are Mine.” – The key words here are “I have” indicating that the decision has been made and the act of redemption has been carried out–and it has through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He paid the price. Why? Because He LOVES you and me! Because of this great redemption, we really can obey God’s command to FEAR NOT. Why does God tell us to fear not over three hundred times in the Bible? Because fear and faith cannot co-exist. If you are fearful, you have no faith in God. It’s that simple. Your Take-Away: Because of the great price He paid for your soul, your faith can explode in power because you have nothing to fear. Trust Him because He is trustworthy.
**”I have called you by your name, You are Mine.” – “I have called you” shows that God, the Creator of the universe is completely aware of your existence. You may think you are invisible to everyone around you, but He is fully aware of your life and everything about you. God loves the individual. He is so into personal relationships! He calls your name out to come to Him. Why? Because He loves you, yes you specifically. Your Take-Away: God is the God of the individual. Every person who comes to Him has a unique relationship with Him. He has plans and purposes that are tailor-made just for YOU. He loves you!
