Hand In Hand

“Seek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found [claiming Him by necessity and by right]; call upon Him while He is near.  Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return to the Lord, and He will have love, pity, and mercy for him, and to our God, for He will multiply to him His abundant pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7)

We are living in the age of GRACE.  This means that God’s mercy and compassion is extended to us without limits or hesitation.  His grace is abounding towards everyone who is walking on this planet today.  At any moment today, anyone can call out to God for salvation through Jesus Christ and HE will gladly wash your sins away.  In other words, today He is near to YOU for salvation.

There is a caveat, though, and that is REPENTANCE.  Grace and repentance go hand in hand.  Grace is extended for a season.  He is gracious enough to grant us grace to give us time to repent and turn back.  BUT that season WILL come to an end and if no repentance is forthcoming, judgment will come.  Unlike some teachings today that basically say “your sinful lifestyle is OK, God’s grace covers it!”  Grace is not issued by God without the expectation of repentance.  Repentance means you have to turn away from the sin in your life that you KNOW displeases God.  That you KNOW is against what the Bible teaches.  This “greasy grace” doctrine is not founded in the Truth of God’s Word.  Grace is not a license to sin.

Repentance is a powerful weapon that shuts down Satan’s accusations against us like nothing else.  Day and night Satan is up in the Court of Heaven, before our Father accusing us with our own unrepentant sins.  He tempts us, we fall for it, then he goes and accuses us before God.  Why does he do that?  Because he wants God to allow him to destroy us.  He can’t accuse anyone without legal grounds to do so.  Our sins provide that legal ground.  If we don’t repent, sooner or later God’s righteous judgment WILL have to be issued.  Satan knows that.  He demands to sift us like wheat Jesus says.  But when we repent, Jesus puts our sin under His Blood and it is eradicated like a puff of smoke.  Satan loses his legal ground against us and God issues grace and mercy instead of judgment.

Believe me, when I tell you that God does NOT want to issue judgment on anyone.  He wants to extend grace and mercy and He does so until His righteous justice can’t be held back anymore.  Repentance is the key to victory over Satan because if he is wreaking havoc in your life, he has some legal ground to do so.  God doesn’t have to beat anyone over the head because Satan is eager to do it for Him.  If we only knew the lengths God has gone to save us from destruction, we would fall on our knees in thanksgiving and gratitude.
