The Great Falling Away

“Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition). (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

“He who willfully separates and estranges himself from God and man seeks his own desire and pretext to break out against all wise and sound judgment.  A self-confident fool has no delight in understanding but only in revealing his personal opinions and himself.  When the wicked comes in to the depth of evil, he becomes a contemptuous despiser of all that is pure and good, and with inner baseness comes outer shame and reproach.” (Proverbs 18:1-3)

We are watching the great falling away take place before our eyes.  It is disturbing and sad yet exciting at the same time.  It is exciting because it won’t be long before that trumpet blows and the true Church of Jesus Christ meets Him in the air.

I was watching a YouTube video the other day of a well-known pastor who has fallen away from the faith and embraced these new-fangled doctrines that tickle the ears of people who have no stomach for repentance and holiness.  He said in an interview that the “church” was “moments away from accepting same-sex marriage.”  He also said that the “traditional” church would continue to become more and more “irrelevant” in our culture using arguments from a two thousand year old book that no longer was valid.  I wondered, how could someone who walked close enough to God to build a church from small to mega and fall into this level of unbelief?

He is correct in stating that the church is moments away from accepting same-sex marriage.  He is correct in stating that the church is moving into a relevant position in society.  However, the church he is speaking of is the apostate church spoken of in the Word of God.  Like Paul says, don’t be deceived or beguiled.  God has not changed His position on ANY of the issues that men are now saying are OK.  God is still sitting on His throne as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The Church of Jesus Christ is still very much relevant and as the times get more and more perilous, people will coming running to where the power and the presence of God is.  And His power will reside with those who BELIEVE Him and His Word is still the Truth.  The true Church of Jesus Christ is alive and growing all over the world.  Even in Muslim nations people are turning to Jesus as their Savior.  People are gladly giving their lives for His name’s sake.

So now the choice for all Christians is to decide which camp to go with.  The Apostate Church or the true Church.  To stay on the narrow road to heaven or join the rest of the world on the highway to destruction.  How can we stay on the narrow road and not be lured into apostasy?  It is through that intimate relationship with God that He is calling His people into.   It is very important that all believers begin to “dwell in the secret place of the Most High.”  That is where we will remain steadfast in our faith.  The lure of the seducing spirits is very strong in these last days.  Entire denominations have fallen away from the even the basics of Christianity.  Stay close to Jesus, watch and pray because He is drawing near to call us home.

Blessings everyone…

Praise God that He has given us His Holy Word to be nurtured in the doctrines of the faith and to throw off and avoid all error and false teaching. God bless us.
