Faithful Witnesses

“He who hears and heeds you [disciples] hears and heeds Me; and he who slights and rejects you slights and rejects Me; and he who slights and rejects Me slights and rejects Him who sent Me.

The seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.  And He said to them, I saw Satan falling like a lightning [flash] from heaven.  Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.

Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven.” (Luke 10:16-20)

The Lord Jesus Christ has called His people, those who believe in Him, to be faithful witnesses unto Him.  He has given us authority in His name to do what is necessary to help people find Him and get free from all the power of the enemy.  He has given us all the resources we need to get the job done.

Back in the days of His earthly ministry, He sent the seventy out to do this and today, He is sending us out to be faithful witnesses of His love and His power.  To share with the lost, the way home.

Back then the disciples faced insults and rejection from people for their message of hope and salvation and we face it today too.  What we have to realize is that people aren’t rejecting us, they are rejecting Jesus and the One who sent Him–the Father.  Our job is not to take it personally because it isn’t about us.  It’s about Jesus.  The whole world has a choice to make: accept the lifeline of Jesus’ Blood or go on into destruction.

To be a Christian in today’s hostile world, we have to grow a thick skin.  The sooner we realize it isn’t about us, the easier it will be to share Jesus’ Gospel with the world around us.

Lord, help Your people be the faithful witnesses You need in this day and in this hour to bring the lost into Your kingdom!

Blessings everyone…
