The Invitation of Repentance

“For thus says the high and lofty One–He who inhabits eternity, Whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, but with him also who is of a thoroughly penitent and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the thoroughly penitent [bruised with sorrow for sin].

For I will not contend forever, neither will I be angry always, for [if I did stay angry] the spirit of man would faint and be consumed before Me, and [My purpose in ] creating the souls of men would be frustrated.” (Isaiah 57:15-16)

God doesn’t hold grudges.  He longs to wrap us in His love–if we would turn to him in repentance.  He declares His power and majesty in the first sentence of this scripture and then says something very interesting.  “I dwell in the high and holy place, but with him also who is of a thoroughly penitent and humble spirit.”  Repentance brings the presence of the living God into your life.  He responds to true and thorough repentance.

Repentance is a beautiful thing.  You die to one thing and gain a whole new life.  God has the ability to make all things new, no matter how tangled a mess is!  I was a dying alcoholic when I repented and turned.  He came into my life and completely turned my tangled mess into a beautiful life.

We all have a purpose born out of the heart of God that He wants to bring into our lives.  It starts where you are at now and the words “I repent.”

Blessings everyone…
