“Again, departing from the region of Tyre and Sidon, He came through the midst of the region of Decapolis to the Sea of Galilee. Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him. And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched His tongue. Then looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, “Ephaphatha.” That is, “be opened.”
Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear the mute to speak.” (Mark 7:31-37)

After leaving Tyre and Sidon, where He had cast the demon out of the Syro-Phoenician woman’s daughter, Jesus came to the area surrounding the Sea of Galilee. He went through Decapolis, where I’m sure He was spotted and started drawing crowds. It just wasn’t every day somebody was healing and casting out devils! He was the symbol of HOPE to people held in bondage to sin.
It wasn’t long before they brought a guy who was both deaf and had a speech impediment. Again, like the Syro-Phoenician woman, they begged Him to put His hand on him. It was quite unusual how Jesus healed this guy. He sticks His fingers in His ears and then spits on his tongue! People would have a fit if He was doing that here in this age! But it worked. They guy could hear and speak plainly after this.
He told everyone to not tell anyone about it, but how could they not tell? It was a miracle that they had just witnessed! They were impressed with His attitude of NOT wanting notoriety and fame. They said, “He has done all things well.”
Jesus is still healing and delivering people all over the world through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is still just as irresistible as He was when He walked the earth. People are still astonished at Him. If you are in a hopeless situation, He is willing and able to deliver you completely if you come to Him in faith and ask Him. He still does all things well…
