The Wells of Salvation

“And in that day, you will say:  O LORD, I will praise You; though You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.  Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.  Therefore, with joy, you will draw water from the wells of salvation.  And in that day, you will say: Praise the LORD, call upon His name; declare His deeds among the people, make mention that His name is exalted.  Sing to the LORD, for He has done excellent things; this is known in all the earth.  Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!.” (Isaiah 12)

What is salvation?  Mirriam-Webster defines salvation as “something that saves someone or something from danger or a difficult situation.”  The Bible says that Jesus Christ “saves to the uttermost.”  What does this mean?  It means that He completely transforms your life.  You are changed at the very core all the way through to your physical body.  Everything in your realm of influence is transformed when He becomes Lord of your life.  The key word being LORD.  What does being Lord mean?  It means giving Him the reins, the control of your life to fulfill HIS plans for your life.  You put away your plans, which aren’t the best for you anyway.

He wants the best for you.  He knows what will bring you the most joy in life!  He sees the beginning from the end.  He knows what the hidden things are in your heart.  Sometimes things are so painful, we hide them from ourselves, but everything in our heart is open and naked before Him.  He really does know what is best for you and what is more, He wants that for you.  After all, He created you to be YOU.  There is nobody else like you on earth.   You are unique because you have a specific purpose.  A purpose that only you can fulfill.

But for you to fulfill that purpose, He wants your cooperation through salvation in Jesus Christ.  He is the way and the truth and the life.  The Bible says that “no one can see the Father, except through Me.”  When Jesus touches your heart, you are forever changed.  Once you invite Jesus into your heart, you have entered into a blood covenant with the Creator of the universe: Yehovah.  The wells of salvation are open to you and you are invited to draw from them anytime you need to.  What are the wells of salvation?

We find the answer to that question in the death of Jesus Christ.  In Isaiah 53, it is prophesied of the Messiah’s death.

Verse 2 “He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.”  ~ Jesus Christ was not a strikingly handsome man when He walked the earth.  Quite the opposite from this scripture.  He is a regular guy.  His real beauty is on the inside–completely captivating.  He knows what it is like to be overlooked for a more beautiful or handsome person.

Verse 3 “He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised and we did not esteem Him.” ~ Jesus Christ went from a rock star status to a beggar in a matter of days.  During the height of His ministry, people followed Him everywhere; so much so that He could hardly get any rest.  Then He was betrayed by a friend into the hands of His enemies–enemies who were out to kill Him.  He felt the pain of rejection of His friends, His own race, and His church leaders.  He knows your pain too.

Verse 4 “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.” ~ They call the suffering, torture and death of Jesus Christ, His PASSION.  And that is exactly what it was.  His passion for our redemption consumed Him to the point where He was willing to go far beyond what any human being would be willing to go for anyone.  The guilt of mankind was laid upon Him by the Father in heaven.  The broken spirits and broken hearts and shredded souls of mankind were laid on Him.  Truly, this kind of love, the world has never seen.

Verse 5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” ~ God has a standard of behavior that He requires for all of His creation.  We are His creation.  This standard can be transgressed by our choosing to go beyond the boundary He has set OR we can fall short of this standard and not meet it.  This is iniquity.  Transgressions and iniquities are the sins that were laid on Jesus and He took our mental, emotional and physical punishments.  He Himself was guiltless in ANY transgression or iniquity.  He fully met ALL of God’s standards of behavior.  That is why He and He alone is worthy to be sacrificed for us all.

Verse 6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” ~ The fall of Adam and Eve in the garden scattered the sheep away from God the Father.  It changed completely man’s ability to commune with God….until Jesus came and redeemed us back.  He reconciled us back to a right relationship with His Father.

Verse 10 “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief.  When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.” ~ God the Father was determined to get us back from the same destruction that Satan and his fallen angels are doomed to.  The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: Elohim, was determined to do whatever it took get us back to His original plan for mankind.  So yes, He was pleased to put Jesus Christ to grief.  He was pleased to lay on Him the sinful nature of man.  And what is more, Jesus Christ was equally pleased to take it for us!  What love is this?  Truly, it can be found nowhere else.

Beloved, take a few minutes to thank your Creator, your Father and your Savior for loving YOU enough save you to the uttermost!  Our God doesn’t do ANYTHING halfway!  The wells of salvation are yours to draw from at any time.  His peace, His victory, His love, His provisions, His purposes for you are ready to draw from.
