“He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have no understanding. He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him!” (Daniel 2:21-22)
“Who alone has immortality and lives in unapproachable light, Whom no man has ever seen or can see. Unto Him be honor and everlasting power and dominion. Amen.” (I Timothy 6:16)
“And this is the message which we have heard from Him and now are reporting to you: God is Light, and there is no darkness in Him at all–not in any way. So if we say we are partakers together and enjoy fellowship with Him when we live and move and are walking about in darkness, we are speaking falsely and do not live and practice the Truth of the Gospel. But if we are living and walking in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have true, unbroken fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses and removes us from all sin and guilt. If we freely admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:5-9)
God is Light. There is no darkness IN Him. He is pure Light. Everything about Him is light. He is light, His Word is light, His Kingdom is light, His Messiah is the Light of the world. To walk with Him and have unbroken fellowship with Him, we cannot walk in darkness or we cannot walk with Him. It is that simple.
We have choices to make every day to walk in His light or walk in the darkness of our own understanding. Sometimes we make the wrong choices, but it is not inevitable. It is a choice. We choose to yield to temptations. We choose to yield to strife. We choose not to forgive. These choices bring the darkness around us and break our fellowship with the Father. Does He stop loving us? No! Is He mad at us? No! He is waiting for us to return to the Light. To walk out of the darkness through repentance and continue where we left off. Isn’t God good? He is so patient and longsuffering. He quietly whispers, “child this is not who you are to Me. Come back into the light.”
Once you have experienced the joy of fellowship with Him in the intimate relationship, it grieves your soul to be out of fellowship. Life loses its light to you. I know I have wandered away too often in my life and lived in gross darkness for many years. But I have found that life in the light is so exciting and full of expectation and hope. It truly becomes so precious, that it helps to say NO to those dark choices we all face day after day.
The key to a fulfilling life is found in pursuing God in the intimate relationship that Jesus Christ purchased on the Cross. He opened the gate for all people to pursue the Father in a deep and wonderful friendship. We are sons and daughters to Him! How do you pursue this intimate relationship? One word: TIME. Take time out every day, be it five minutes for fifty minutes to talk to the Father in Jesus’ Name. To read His word every day. As you do, you will run smack into the Father. He inhabits our praises, so sing praises to Him! Taking the first step is the hardest, but you will be amazed at the changes in your life when you look back over time. I know I am!
