The Covenant

“The secret of the sweet, satisfying companionship of the Lord have they who fear, revere and worship Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its deep, inner meaning.” (Psalm 25:14)

There is a lot more to God’s covenant with us than meets the eye. What is a covenant? A covenant is a binding agreement between two parties. Each party agrees to give all their resources and loyalty to one another. A covenant says “my enemies are your enemies and your enemies are my enemies.” A covenant says “I’ll be with you no matter what.”

God takes His covenants very seriously and He takes a dim view of anyone who takes it lightly. We entered into a blood covenant with Him through the blood of Jesus. We give our lives to Him and He promises all of Heaven’s resources and He will never leave us or forsake us. We agree to take up our cross and follow Jesus. We are both all in.

What does it mean to “fear” the Lord? It’s not cowering away from Him that’s for sure. No, it means that He has a primary place in your thoughts every single day. Your day has a slot of time just for Him. A time of fellowship and worship. Your decisions are made based on His standards, not the world’s or yours.

What is the result of this covenant lifestyle? He will show you His covenant and reveal its deep meaning. You will discover how sweet and satisfying your life can be when God is your best friend. It is such a comfort to know that His presence is always with you, even when you don’t “feel” it.

Blessings everyone…
