“But You, O Lord, Your mercy-seat love is limitless, reaching higher than the highest heavens. Your great faithfulness is infinite, stretching over the whole earth. Your righteousness is unmovable, just like the mighty mountains. Your judgments are as full of wisdom as the oceans are full of water. Your tender care and kindness leave no one forgotten, not a man nor even a mouse.
O God, how extravagant is Your cherishing love! All mankind can find a hiding place under the shadow of Your wings. All may drink of the anointing from the abundance of Your house. All may drink their fill from the delightful springs of Eden. To know You is to experience a flowing fountain, drinking in Your life, springing up to satisfy.
In the light of Your holiness, we receive the light of revelation. Lord, keep pouring out Your unfailing love on those who are near You. Release more of Your blessings to those who are loyal to You.” (Psalm 36:5-10) The Passion Translation Bible
God the Father, Jehovah God, Elohim, Abba. He is composed of LOVE. That is what He is and who He is. Love must have an expression, it must be poured out and shared. God’s love is a continual fountain that flows out to all of His creation. Even a field mouse is loved by Him. God loves to LOVE! His love is wildly extravagant to His image bearers. All human beings are created in God’s very image. No matter if they serve Him or not, they are still created in His image.
He created humans for one purpose: FELLOWSHIP. FRIENDSHIP. COMPANIONSHIP, INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP. His extravagant love flows out endlessly, limitlessly to us. If we only knew the care He provides to us even when we don’t know Him or acknowledge Him. While we are yet sinners, enemies of the Cross, Jesus still died and paid the price for us to be a friend of Jehovah God.
All down through the history of humans, Jehovah God has tried over and over to have a relationship with us. And time after time, we have rejected His extravagant love in favor of our own ways. Finally, He poured Himself into a physical body of a human so He could bring us into an intimate relationship. Not just to save us from the Lake of Fire, but to pour His extravagant love into our lives here on the earth and throughout all eternity. What was our response? We killed Him. We reviled Him. We rejected Him. So what did He do? He defeated the grave by rising and paving the way for each one of us to return His extravagant love with our extravagant love for Him.
When Jehovah God finds someone who returns His love like this, He pours and pours and pours His presence, His anointing, His blessings into that life until that person truly is a mirror image of Him. What joy He has when this happens! I want to be that person. I want to be a mirror image of the One who loves me extravagantly! How about you?
