“Do you not fear Me? says the LORD. Will you not tremble at My presence, who have placed the sand as the boundary of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, yet they cannot prevail; though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it. But this people has a defiant and rebellious heart; they have revolted and departed. They do not fear the LORD our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season. He reserves for us the appointed weeks of the harvest. Your iniquities have turned these things away, and your sins have withheld good from you.” (Jeremiah 5:18-25)
God is a just and righteous God. He doesn’t sit up in heaven and arbitrarily decide to turn a person’s life upside down. There is always a reason things turn sour. From my experiences in life there are two reasons life gets sour:
- You are doing everything right. You are in the center of God’s will, doing what He has called you to do for Him and the Adversary (Satan) is trying to shut you down. You must stand and resist him until he flees from you…and he has to flee. When we resist him in the Name of Jesus, he has to flee from us.
- You have sin in your life somewhere. Sin is not necessarily sins of the flesh like fornicating, adultery, drinking and carousing in the world. Spiritual sins are far more dangerous because they are hidden in plain sight. Pride, unforgiveness, worry and fear, unbelief, anger and resentment–even towards God. All these things can block the blessings of God, which He DOES have stored up for you.
There is always a reason for the sour seasons we go through. If you are going through a sour season today, take a good long look at your life and ask the LORD to show you what is at the root of it. If it’s the Adversary, stand your ground and give God a shout of praise for the victory! If not, ask Him to reveal the areas of sin and blocks in your life, then repent and put it all under the Blood of Jesus! Either way, you CAN and WILL get the victory!
Remember beloved, God your Father, loves you very much. Nobody on this planet loves you more than Him. He wants the best for you, but He won’t force His will on you. He has given you the freedom to choice life or death–every single day. Today, choose life.
