“It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His (tender) compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. The Lord is my portion or share, says my soul; therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him.” (Lamentations 3:22-24)
One day spent with the Lord is better than a thousand days anywhere else. Nowhere else is there found the love and peace that come from God alone. If He was a mean God, we would have been consumed long ago. But He loves us so much that He looks for ways to bless us, to have mercy on our shortcomings, to show compassion to us. It is true: His compassions never fail and they are new every morning!
What a wonderful, comforting passage of scripture this is! To know and believe that no matter how bleak and dark today is, tomorrow His mercies and compassions are brand new, if you put your faith in Him. I don’t care how bad your situation is or how hopeless it is. If you put your faith and trust in the God of Creation, He will bring you out of it. I’ve seen it time and time again. He is faithful and His mercies are new every morning.
